Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer with a strong background in special-purpose machines (SPMs), automotive manufacturing systems and industrial automation. The candidate will be responsible for concept development, detailed mechanical design, component selection, engineering documentation and design validation for automation systems, assembly lines, dispensing machines, test rigs, jigs and fixtures.
Key Responsibilities
- Design special-purpose machines, assembly lines, dispensing machines, test rigs, jigs and fixtures.
- Develop machine concepts based on RFQs, customer specifications and application requirements.
- Perform detailed mechanical design of fixtures, conveyors and automation systems.
- Review design concepts to ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and follow mechanical design standards, engineering guidelines and industry best practices.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure dimensional accuracy and proper machine functioning.
- Select suitable actuators, sensors, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic components and other mechanical items.
- Prepare accurate 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
- Maintain proper document management and revision control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with electrical and PLC programming teams to ensure proper system integration.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, assembly and quality teams during project execution.
- Support the project management team with timelines, cost estimation and risk mitigation.
- Resolve mechanical design issues during machine assembly, testing and commissioning.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement suitable design improvements.
- Support machine trials, validation and acceptance activities.
- Drive design optimization and cost-reduction initiatives without affecting performance or quality.
- Introduce modular designs, standardized components and innovative automation concepts.
- Explore opportunities to incorporate Industry 4.0 principles into automation and machine designs.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Relevant technical certifications in mechanical design or CAD software will be an advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Strong relevant experience in SPM design, automation systems or automotive manufacturing equipment.
- Hands-on experience in designing assembly lines, dispensing machines, test rigs, conveyors, jigs and fixtures.
- Experience in independently developing concepts and completing detailed machine designs.
- Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, machine assembly and commissioning.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Solid Edge for 3D modelling, assembly design and detailing.
- Good knowledge of preparing manufacturing-ready 2D drawings and BOMs.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering tolerances and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes and machining practices.
- Ability to select actuators, motors, gearboxes, sensors, bearings and pneumatic components.
- Knowledge of mechanical design calculations and component selection.
- Understanding of machine safety, ergonomics, maintainability and design standards.
- Ability to evaluate designs for feasibility, cost optimization and manufacturability.
- Familiarity with document management and engineering revision-control practices.

Preferred Candidate Profile
- Candidates with experience in the industrial automation, SPM or automotive manufacturing sectors will be preferred.
- Candidates residing in or near Manesar, Gurugram, Dharuhera, Rewari, Bhiwadi or nearby areas will be preferred due to the factory location in Sector 7, IMT Manesar.
